The ideals put forth by our Founding Fathers are as relevant today as they were in 1856. No matter how they were codified or taught over the years, our values always circled around providing community, culture, and guidance to be successful. Not only as undergraduates, but as True Gentlemen throughout our global community. And you are a shining example of providing all of those things.
As a natural leader, you were elected Eminent Archon for your chapter. You didn’t stray after graduating and transitioned to becoming a Chapter Advisor. Naturally, you joined the local area Alumni Association, working your way up to being its President. Your passion for the Fraternity only escalated from there, eventually taking a leadership role within your Province.
For many, this level of involvement would be enough for a lifetime. For you, this was just the tip of the iceberg. After being the chairman and de facto leader of a Convention Host Committee, it opened a doorway that could only be filled by giving back to one of your favorite things in the world: our Fraternity. You proudly served on the faculty for Leadership School for over ten years, as well as a variety of committees throughout the Realm.
Professionally, you have an extensive background in finance and led hundreds of people that touched millions of dollars. You also took several roles in trade organizations, nonprofits, and volunteer-based organizations, always focusing on education and giving back. This experience brought you to serve on the SAE Foundation’s Board of Trustees for close to a decade. As the leader of the Investment Committee, you tripled its assets during a time when monetary support was declining.
Spearheaded by your efforts, the Levere Memorial Temple has a permanent bust and plaque that honors all of our Brothers that passed during the Vietnam War. But there is another statue that you are also part of. Every year, the Fraternity gives the John O. Moseley Award for Fraternity Zeal to its most outstanding undergraduate chapter. With it comes a bronze lion, which you commission, fund, and gift every year to the award winning chapter.
Throughout your life, you’ve been the personification of embracing community, enhancing culture, and providing guidance to our Fraternity and its members. You’re also one of the top donors to our Foundation. A true guiding light. For your continuous, lifelong support and mentorship, the Fraternity has already awarded you with the Merit Key.
Accordingly, the Supreme Council of Sigma Alpha Epsilon awards you, Dean K. Morell, the 166th Distinguished Service Award, the highest honor bestowed upon a member of our Beloved Fraternity, granted on the 21st day of June in the year 2025 and presented at Sigma Alpha Epsilon’s 169th Anniversary Convention.
