TRAVEL
ARRIVING IN CHICAGO
Program check-in will begin at 2 p.m. Central Time on Thursday, January 8, 2026. The opening session will start at 4 p.m. Please plan to arrive at the hotel by 3 p.m. (land by 2 p.m. if flying to O’Hare) to check in, receive your materials, and join the program.
FLYING
If you are flying to Chicago, the closest airport is Chicago O’Hare (ORD). Please try to select a flight that lands by 2 p.m. Central Time or earlier so you have enough time to get to the hotel and get your check-in materials before the program begins. Our hotel offers a free shuttle from the airport, which departs every 30 minutes.
While you may choose to fly into Chicago Midway (MDW), please know the drive will take about an hour, and taxi/ride share costs average $70+. You can also take the “L” train directly from the airport to the Blue Line Cumberland stop (5-minute walk from the hotel); the trip will take you about an hour and a half. Please plan your flight arrival time accordingly so you have enough time to get to the hotel and get your check-in materials before the program begins.
DRIVING
If you are driving to Chicago, our hotel offers complimentary parking.
DEPARTING CHICAGO
The program will conclude Sunday morning by 11:00 a.m. To graduate, you must be in attendance for all sessions in full. You are advised to book your departing flight for any time after 1:00 p.m. (if flying from ORD) or after 2:00 p.m. (if flying from MDW). If you are driving, you may depart immediately following the final session.

CODE OF CONDUCT
As an attendee of our program, you will be asked to agree to the following terms, which help designate us as true gentlemen and leaders:
- I do hereby agree to adhere to the following Code of Conduct while I am an attendee of Leadership School. My conduct will at all times be a reflection of “The True Gentleman.”
- I will not violate the laws of the land, the regulations of my university/college, or the Fraternity Laws and health-and-safety policies of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. If I fail in any way to follow this Code of Conduct, I fully understand that the Eminent Supreme Recorder or his designee has the right to remove me from the program immediately. I also understand that if this occurs, my membership in Sigma Alpha Epsilon may be terminated.
- As a gentleman, I understand that some t-shirt slogans or pictures can be vulgar or tasteless. I will refrain from wearing such a shirt while a part of Leadership School. If I have a question as to my shirt’s acceptability, I will ask a staff or faculty member for guidance. I realize that this type of dress reflects the image of Sigma Alpha Epsilon.
- I further agree that I shall continue to abide by the Scope of Association, which I signed upon claiming my sae.net account. I understand that my poor attendance at general sessions, seminars, or meetings, or my conduct, may warrant my failing Leadership School and not being awarded a diploma.
- I understand and acknowledge that attendance at the entire program — from start to finish — is required for successful graduation. Departing early from the program for any reason may result in my failure to graduate from the program.
- Additionally, I understand that if my actions cause injury to someone or something, I will indemnify and hold Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and Foundation harmless from any claims arising from my actions.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Please review the following FAQs and the information above for full details about the program before registering. If you have any additional questions, please contact the Education Department at education@sae.net.
What is Leadership School?
- Leadership School is a personal and professional development event that equips collegiate members with leadership skills to succeed within Sigma Alpha Epsilon and beyond.
- Leadership School is not officer training. However, you will leave Leadership School with a network of other Sigma Alpha Epsilon leaders and skills to be successful in your current or future leadership roles.
Where can I register to attend Leadership School?
- Register on The SAE Portal under Event Registration (at the top left of the homepage). The deadline to register is Monday, December 8, 2025.
Who attends Leadership School?
- Each emerging and chartered chapter may send up to three attendees. Leadership School is open to any collegiate member, regardless of position. Still, it can be helpful to send newly elected officers and/or future or emerging leaders to help build leadership skills for your current and future officers.
How much does it cost to attend Leadership School?
- This depends on when you register. Early registration is $600 and is valid through Friday, October 31, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. Regular registration is $650 and is valid from November 1 until November 30, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. Late registration is $700 and is valid from December 1 until December 8, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.
Who pays for Leadership School?
- Each collegiate or emerging chapter should cover its attendees’ registration and travel costs.
- If your chapter hasn’t budgeted to send anyone to Leadership School, take a look at your chapter’s budget to see if you can move anything around. Even adjusting so you can cover just one registration fee can make a huge impact. Investing in your chapter’s leadership development is worth it.
Are there ways to help cover the cost of registration?
- FSC Scholarships: The Fraternity Service Center will award a limited number of scholarships. Recipients will be selected by October 24, 2025. Scholarships will cover the registration fee only. You or your chapter will still be responsible for your travel expenses. Apply here through Monday, October 13, 2025.
- Chapter Education Fund (CEF): Attendees may use CEFs to help cover the cost of registration. Please contact your Fund Administrator or Alison Lai (alai@sae.net), Director of Donor Services & Stewardship at the SAE Foundation, for instructions.
- Province, House Corporation, or Alumni Association: Many SAE councils and alumni associations have resources to help brothers attend national programs. Don’t hesitate to reach out and ask about available funds. If you need assistance contacting the right alumni, email alumni@sae.net with your inquiry.
- Student Government Travel Funds: Your school’s student government (SGA) might offer travel funds for attending conferences. Be sure to check with your SGA and apply early, as these funds often run out quickly.
When do I need to arrive at Leadership School? When will I depart?
- All Leadership School attendees should book travel to arrive at the hotel on Thursday, January 8, 2026, by 3 p.m. If you are flying to O’Hare, you should book a flight that lands by 2 p.m., and if you’re flying to Midway, you should book a flight that lands by 1 p.m.
- Attendees should book departure flights for Sunday, January 11, 2026, to leave after 1 p.m. (if going from O’Hare) or after 2 p.m. (if going from Midway).
Do I need to book my travel for Leadership School?
- Yes, you are responsible for booking your own travel.
- If you are flying, the sooner you book, the better. Booking at least 30 to 60 days in advance will get you the best prices. Use sites like Google Flights to compare airline costs and track the lowest prices. Waiting until mid to late December to book your flight will result in higher prices and less flight availability.
Do I need to book a hotel room for Leadership School?
- No, all hotel rooms will be booked on your behalf and are included in the cost of registration.
Who will I be rooming with?
- Collegians will share a hotel room with members from their chapter. If you are the only person from your chapter attending, you will share a hotel room with a collegian who is the only person attending from his chapter.
I am local; do I ned to stay in the provided hotel accommodations?
- Yes. All attendees, regardless of home or chapter distance, are required to stay at the hotel.
I need to arrive late or leave the event early. What should I do?
- Leadership School is an institute-style experience; attending the entire event is critical. Email education@sae.net to see if your plans are approved, or we recommend you find an alternate to attend the event on your behalf.
I need to arrive early. What should I do?
- If you need to arrive a day early to ensure you arrive on time for Leadership School (most often due to flight times), we can offer you an extra night in the hotel at our group rate. We have a limited number of extra hotel rooms for Wednesday night, so please email education@sae.net as soon as you know you will need to arrive early.
I registered for Leadership School and am no longer able to attend. What should I do?
- The best option is to find someone from your chapter to attend in your place. If someone from your chapter can attend in your place, submit a change request on The SAE Portal by December 8, 2025, at 11:59 pm Pacific Time. After December 8, email your request to education@sae.net.
If you need to cancel, you may do so by logging in to your account on The SAE Portal. All cancellations must be submitted by Monday, December 8, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. After December 8, refunds will not be issued for cancellations.
