Statement Regarding Chapter at UC-Merced

MERCED, CA – Officials at the University of California at Merced have suspended Sigma Alpha Epsilon’s California Chi-Mu chapter until the end of the current academic term. The sanction comes as a result of findings that members have not met pledge-programming expectations and risk-management standards. During this suspension period, headquarters staff and local alumni volunteers will conduct a review in order to evaluate each brother’s membership. In addition, the chapter will undergo educational training to help the group prepare for its return to the university community.

Sigma Alpha Epsilon’s goal is to ensure its chapters meet or exceed policies and practices that assist our members in becoming gentlemen, leaders and scholars and in living up to the ideals of our creed, “The True Gentleman.”
