Headquarters Responds to Article Regarding Dartmouth Chapter

HANOVER, NH – The Sigma Alpha Epsilon headquarters understands an article regarding its chapter at Dartmouth College has been written in this month’s edition of Rolling Stone magazine. The chapter, classified as New Hampshire Alpha, remains on a cease-and-desist order following hazing allegations by former member Andrew Lohse.

The national headquarters has been working with college administrators since the day the allegations were brought to our attention in order to investigate them and determine their validity. Recently, administrators dropped all 27 of the charges levied against members in connection with the allegations.

However, the chapter will remain under a cease-and-desist until the college has completed its case against the chapter as an organization, which is still pending. Once that investigation has been completed, the national organization will determine the next step regarding the chapter’s status and take appropriate measures.

Sigma Alpha Epsilon does not condone hazing and maintains stringent risk-management policies for its members. In addition, the national organization provides many educational resources and training initiatives to assist our members so they have a meaningful, positive experience. We cultivate the development of leaders and scholars and ascribe to the teachings of our creed, “The True Gentleman."
