SALISBURY, MD – The Sigma Alpha Epsilon headquarters has suspended the charter of our Maryland Sigma chapter at Salisbury University as a result of health-and-safety violations and the failure of members to uphold the stringent policies and procedures outlined by the national organization. Effective immediately, the chapter will close, and its members will be suspended and lose all membership privileges until they graduate or separate from the school.

The closure comes as a result of an investigation into allegations regarding the new-member program, and Sigma Alpha Epsilon’s leadership has a zero-tolerance policy for any activity that fails to follow our guidelines and expectations for membership and operations. We have found that the actions of members do not align with our core values, mission and creed.

We always view our relationship with colleges and universities as a partnership, and we are appreciative that Salisbury University officials are working with us during this suspension process. Although we regret the closure, we look forward to re-establishing the Maryland Sigma chapter in the future with a group of men who exemplify our belief in creating gentlemen and leaders on campus and in the community.
