Ashlee Canty graduated from North Carolina State University in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences and from Western Illinois University and a master’s degree in college student personnel. She is pursing her Doctorate of Education currently from DePaul University in curriculum studies, and her research focuses on racial and gendered micro-aggressions at colleges and universities among women of color.

During her time at North Carolina State University, Canty joined Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and was awarded Sorority Woman of the Year as well as Omicron Zeta’s Collegiate Soror of the Year. After holding a number of leadership roles on campus, she decided to pursue a career in student affairs. Prior to joining the Sigma Alpha Epsilon staff, Canty worked as the campus Fraternity/Sorority Advisor at both Syracuse University and DePaul University. In addition, since 2007, she has been a member of the Association of Fraternity Advisors and was elected to the Board of Directors for the 2017-2019 term.

Canty currently resides in Winston Salem, North Carolina, where she enjoys traveling, reading and spending time with her friends and family.
